dc.description This item includes a segment of a student interview in a Writing Intensive course in a sophomore honors seminar at the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa. The interview was conducted in 2014, and in this clip the interviewee is responding to the question '(How) did this course change you as a person, as a writer, as a scholar, if at all?'
dc.description.abstract Brief excerpt from interview: It really changed my focus on what should be expected out of academia. For so long institutions have taught by the book and it's becoming really obvious that maybe we need to take a bigger view at education and where people should be able to work or not work or feel comfortable in writing. You don't come out of college and go to work and your boss gives you an outline of exactly what they want from you. It doesn't work that way and I think that it's really important to be able to flow from academia into a career.
