Brief excerpt from interview: Mainly I write a very analytical format... geared toward non-fiction so again the writing came out in that format, but studying about Hawaiian culture... was the biggest challenge... A lot of Native Hawaiian culture is based on not learning in a classroom setting more learning as you live life... [Native Hawaiian culture] encompasses a lot so it can't be put inside a classroom and I had a trouble of getting every aspect of Native Hawaiian culture into a paper.

This item includes a segment of a student interview in a Writing Intensive course in Geography at the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa. The interview was conducted in 2015, and in this clip the interviewee is responding to the question 'In responding to your instructor's writing assignment, what challenges did you face?'
