dc.description | This item includes a segment of an instructor interview in a Writing Intensive course in a sophomore honors seminar at the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa. dc.description.abstract | Brief excerpt from interview: Students who come to these kinds of classes... they see the rich opportunity, it's one of those moments where you see the blossoming of young minds. Part of our task as faculty is pulling back the blinders so people have a broader peripheral vision... a broader perspective of what's going on. Listen to the conversations going on by people all around the world... It is about their beginning to... come to an understanding that this is about them... about how engaging they want to be in bringing this knowledge to the classroom environment... Student brings up this idea of I know this place, I know something about this place, and brings up this idea in a more meaningful way... then you just see them light up. | |
