Abstract
This document illustrates the procedure of creating, choreographing, producing, andperforming Surya (The Sun): The Source of Light. This Bharatanatyam dance production was performed as a part of the BFA/MFA Spring 2024 Concert, Resonance, from March 6th through the 10th at UHM. This production not only explores Indian classical traditions and culture, but also ancient scriptures that are significant to the story creation of the piece about the Hindu sun deity. The dance is expressive and rhythmic, bringing a strong energy to the stage. This thesis performance and documentation was in partial completion for the Master of Fine Arts (MFA) in Dance at the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa.
