dc.description.abstract Brief excerpt from interview: We're a commuter campus, I get that...That's part of the challenge... you have these events that you assume would be packed, and there's just no one there. You have to understand that students have multiple pressures on them. It's always surprising to me that given our place... given the situation we find ourselves in as an island archipelago... and the vulnerability that that inherently represents, that there are these incredible opportunities for students to really delve into this sort of place-based understanding... [it's shocking] that there are so few people there. That's the challenge as faculty... this is a hard one... faculty are trying to do so much... but sometimes at a loss of cultivating a loss of a sense of relationship to the campus.
