Item type: Item , The Prompt-a-thon: Designing a Format for Value Co-Creation with Generative AI for Research and Practice(2024-01-03) Kučević, Emir; Von Brackel-Schmidt, Constantin; Lewandowski, Tom; Leible, Stephan; Memmert, Lucas; Böhmann, TiloGenerative artificial intelligence (GenAI) has emerged as a valuable technology for researchers and practitioners to promote innovation, problem-solving, and optimization of everyday tasks and organizational processes. Despite considerable technological hype, notable knowledge deficits exist regarding the exploration and utilization of GenAI to co-create value for exaptation approaches. Limited experience and understanding of these novel artificial intelligence-based information systems hinder their exploitation. To address this, we conducted a design science research (DSR) project to build an artifact that allows researchers and practitioners to facilitate hands-on experience. To this end, we propose a human-AI co-creation format called Prompt-a-thon (PaT), which was applied in five different instances. The results of the format evaluations of these instances show that most participants increased their knowledge regarding GenAI usage while being satisfied with the PaT format. We thus contribute a replicable format enabling value co-creation for research and practice in the highly dynamic field of GenAI.Item type: Item , Predictors of Sustainability Research Internalization in HEIs as a Service Ecosystem: An Empirical Study in Taiwan(2024-01-03) Alam, Mehtab; Lin, Fu-RenThis study aims to investigate the influence of human agency and contextual factors on sustainability research internalization (SRI) among faculty in higher education institutions (HEIs), in which HEIs are treated as a service ecosystem. Data from 410 faculty in Taiwan’s HEIs, randomly selected from the authors of SDGs-related papers in international journals ranked in SCOPUS database, were analyzed. Results reveal that human agency and university sustainability practices positively influence SRI. A mediation model based on Self-Determination Theory indicated that human agency, university sustainability practices, participative goal setting, and perceived government control on SRI are mediated by the faculty's autonomous motivation. However, participative goal setting shows a negative effect on SRI when mediated through a sequence from controlled to autonomous motivation, as externally motivated faculty find sustainability research cumbersome unless supported by rewards. This study is a progress towards a theory of SRI for faculty in HEIs and offers insights for practitioners in realigning research service systems for sustainable development.Item type: Item , Menu Optimization for Assisted Living Facilities(2024-01-03) Kulturel-Konak, Sadan; Konak, Abdullah; Gavirneni, NageshThe percentage of the US population who live in assisted living facilities is increasing steadily. In many cases, seniors solely rely on meals served in these facilities to meet their nutritional needs. Research shows that most assisted-living elderly residents have deficiencies of several key macro- and micronutrients and an excessive intake of sodium, fat, cholesterol, and saturated fat, considering their age group. This paper focuses on designing healthy menus for assisted living facilities under multiple objectives and complex nutritional constraints. The proposed system considers various factors in the construction of menus, including the USDA healthy eating guidelines, chefs’ choices and experiences, diversity of menu items, cost, and residents' preferences with different dietary requirements or diet patterns. The paper's main contribution to earlier work is to include people's behaviors while selecting menu items so that resulting menus can better reflect what might happen when implemented and to increase the feeling of autonomy.Item type: Item , Recombining Operant Resources: Integrating Service Design and Service Engineering to Improve Service Innovation(2024-01-03) Vikström, Meri; Tuunanen, Tuure; Hönigsberg, SarahService design and service engineering are being positioned as facilitators for service innovation, yet the research on these fields is siloed. This conceptual paper proposes integrating service design and service engineering through service-dominant logic and suggests potential positive outcomes for service innovation from this integration. Service design and service engineering are framed as interconnected operant resources for service innovation, using service-dominant logic. Based on the framing, this integration facilitates service innovation by recombining service design and service engineering as resources at three different resource levels. The study contributes to the literature by providing a new conceptualization and an integration framework, which can be applied to recombine service design and service engineering as resources, leading to new service innovations.Item type: Item , Introduction to the Minitrack on Service Science(2024-01-03) Lin, Fu-Ren; Maglio, Paul
