Hawaii International Conference on System Sciences 2024

Permanent URI for this community

We are pleased to release the proceedings of the 57th Hawaii International Conference on System Sciences (HICSS). With all-time high submission records, and thanks to the diligent work of 2,782 reviewers, we welcome 764 papers to our 2024 HICSS edition.

The following HICSS research tracks continue to attract a significant amount of submissions:

  • Internet and the Digital Economy (235)
  • Organizational Systems and Technology (234)
  • Decision Analytics and Service Sciences (214)
  • Collaboration Systems and Technologies (168)
  • Information Technology in Healthcare (159)
  • Digital and Social Media (146)

This year marks four consecutive years of having the Location Intelligence as an invited track at HICSS. We continue to nurture a new area of MIS research due to its potential in bringing the context of location to business analytics and problem solving as it has become an integral part of today’s decision-making and planning paradigms.

This year, we have also created a second invited track on “IT, Social Justice, and Marginalized Contexts” to respond to a rising global concern of unfavorable or unfair effects of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) on marginalized populations. This track calls for research that mitigates the risks of constructing a future where technological spaces, digital applications, and machine intelligence mirror a narrow and privileged vision of society with its biases and stereotypes. The number of submissions (82) reflects the growing interest and the need to address socio-technical issues with regard to digital inequities and social injustices.

All together, the 8,000-page conference proceedings covers a comprehensive spectrum of research related to the theories, concepts, methodologies, development and evaluation of ICT applications and all human activities, in particular in business and society.

As HICSS has returned to Waikiki, the island of Oahu, to host its annual event, we welcome more than 1,300 scientists at the Hilton Hawaiian Village Waikiki Beach Resort. In addition to the active in-person discussion on the 764 accepted papers, HICSS also welcome hosts of Symposia, Workshops and Tutorials in the following themes.

  • Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning
  • Curriculum Design and Development
  • Data Analytics and Governance
  • Digital Health
  • IT, Business, and Society
  • Scientific Inquiry and Research Methods
  • Security and Privacy
  • Technology for Environmentally Sustainable Development

As you are downloading the papers in this year’s proceedings, we invite you to cite them in your research work, and we encourage you to submit your work to future HICSS.
