dc.description | Genre: Medicine/huru. Febronia Pure was recorded in the early evening 30 September on the backside of her house, on my second visit to Nitung that month. Here she tells about 'huru liku'. She can use it to prohibit and curse the fruits in the plantation. If people steal, they get ill with swollen limbs. Febronia cures them with a chewed areca nut and piper betel mixture containing only 'cewa' leaves as other ingredient. The cure is repeated until the victim is healthy again. After, they usually pay with food; ketupat steamed rice and fish. Febronia was shy and the sound situation was not ideal, children playing in front of the house, people nearby preparing for a party the next day. I chose anyhow to record with the AT 2020 Lavelier mic. With Lakimosa Pele, Mrs Ta'a (family, younger sister?). | |
