Abstract

This study was initiated in order to investigate the abundance of certain trace metals in igneous rocks of the Lau Islands, Tutuila, American Samoa, and Tofua Island, Tonga. The elements studied are from two groups in the periodic table: (1) the alkali and alkaline-earth metals Rb, Sr, and Ba; and (2) the transitional metals Cr, Co, V, and Ni.
