This item includes a segment of an instructor interview in a Writing Intensive course in American Studies at the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa. The interview was conducted in 2014, and in this clip the interviewee is responding to the question 'What observations on course dynamics and discussions do you have?'
Brief excerpt from interview: I think there are a lot more local students, students that grew up in Hawaiʻi, or students that have some experience with Hawaii who are part of the class, more than students who are from the continental U.S., for example... I'm sure some students would like to learn more and they feel a responsibility to learn more about the place they are studying in... Because they know I am Hawaiian from the beginning, I think there are certain ways in which they have to think about how they respond to certain things.
