Brief excerpt from interview: The instructor will write more than you. You get it back and are blown away with what did I do wrong? It's not because he's overly critical or wants to crush your dreams. [It's more about] this is what I've seen in the scientific world and you have to step it up to match it... In hindsight, you are appreciative of that. That was pretty mean, that was pretty harsh, but I get it.

This item includes a segment of an a student interview in a Writing Intensive course in Geology & Geophysics at the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa. The interview was conducted in 2014 and in this clip the interviewee is reflecting on student growth via Writing Intensive courses.
