This item includes a segment of a student interview in a Writing Intensive course in Social Work at the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa. The interview was conducted in 2013, and in this clip the interviewee is responding to the question 'In responding to your instructor's writing assignment, what challenges did you face?'
Brief excerpt from interview: The challenges was, [the individual in the case study] is a local boy from the Big Island, and he didn't really have any family problems, but he was having relationship problems with his girlfriend. And with his personal self, he was a little depressed and how he connected with his girlfriend and his family. The challenge was trying to figure out how to incorporate local issues and local style into social work . . . or connecting different interventions with how we were raised in Hawaiʻi.
