Abstract

Description

This recording is based on Eric's Maze Task by the Max Planck Institute, to elicit route descriptions in Helong between Paulus Sau (84) and Mince Tauk Sau (45). The maps and concepts from the tool were used but in a slightly different method. In total there were 14 routes. Each speaker was to be the "director" seven times, dictating the pre-drawn route to the other participant, the "matcher", who would draw on a map without a route based on the directions given. So after seven routes, the roles were reversed. In this recording, because Paulus Sau was not able to draw he was the "director" and Mince the "matcher" for all routes. The jpgs show the pre-drawn route next to the result from the task. Transcription is in Helong, Indonesian, and English.
