dc.descriptionAlthough the Ryūkyūan languages are not officially recognised by the Japanese government, the community managed to organise themselves and started the reclamation and revitalisation of their language. The initially separated revival actions have grown to complex network of speakers, volunteers, learners and linguists, giving an example of a successful language revitalisation.
