The Journal of Indigenous Social Development (JISD), formerly the Journal of Indigenous Voices in Social Work (JIVSW), is a peer reviewed, web-based, open access journal published twice a year by the Myron B. Thompson School of Social Work at the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa. The journal is dedicated to improving social work practice and expanding knowledge relevant to indigenous peoples and communities in which they live.
Articles published in JISD are intended for readers and contributors who work and live in indigenous communities, as well as those in the university research and social work practice communities. The articles are intended to reflect these diverse communities and perspectives. The editorial board, special issues editors and reviewers include university educators and researchers, elders and leaders of indigenous communities, community-based practitioners and policy makers.
