Item Introduction to the Minitrack on Practitioner Research Insights: Applications of Science and Technology to Real-World Innovations(2023-01-03) Keskin, Tayfun; Rayes, Ammar; Mangla, Utpal; Yurko, HeatherItem Harnessing the Potential of Digital Twins: Lessons from Two Mature Case Studies(2023-01-03) Benbya, Hind; Belbaly, NassimMany enterprises have not progressed their Digital Twins Project to full scale. Daunting interrelated managerial challenges related to developing living learning models, introducing flexible processes, and regulation impede progress. We describe the strategies that General Electrics and Philips are pursuing to address these challenges.Item Computational Modeling of Business Ecosystem Dynamics(2023-01-03) Basole, Rahul; Armbruster, Dieter; Cortez, Nicholaus; Barnett, Brandon; Guilak, Farzin; Kempf, KarlThis paper presents a multi-method approach for computational modeling of complex business ecosystem dynamics that enables strategic decision support. Our computational model is informed by theories of business strategy, organizational ecology, and interfirm networks, and uses real-world data mined from public and proprietary sources. Using a complex system and network analytic lens, our model provides insights into how the interconnected nature of actors, capabilities, and interfirm behaviors (mergers, acquisitions, and collaborations) can lead to different ecosystem characteristics. We discuss results and extensions of this work.Item Making Sociotechnical Systems Thinking Stick(2023-01-03) Painter, Bert; Griffith, TerriSociotechnical systems design is crucial to the success of digital transformations at all scales. Unfortunately, in research and practice, the explicit use of sociotechnical systems thinking is limited. We leverage a different framing (Thinking in 5T) to understand cases where people sustain the practice of sociotechnical thinking.
