The son of well-known restauranteur Toshi Kaneshiro discusses his family background and relationship with his father. He remembers his father's business philosophy and public relations talent. He also describes Columbia Inn's origins in Chinatown, move to Kakaako due to urban renewal, expansion to Waimalu, and sale to Kyotaru. The effects of the restaurant business on family life is also explored.
