Abstract
Asparagus is a perennial vegetable that may serve as an ornamental as well as a food crop. The mature asparagus plant has a clumping growth habit with lacy, fern-like foliage about 3 feet high. Although it is considered a temperate crop, it has proven to be well adapted to year-round growing conditions.
