Abstract
The nematocyst complement of the gymnoblastic athecate hydroid Pennaria tiatella contains all three structural types characteristic of the Hydroidea. These include stenotcles, desmoniua, and isorizen. Of particular interest are the utenoteles (nematocysts with the shaft dilated at the base, 3 spires especially strongly developed, threat with a well defined shaft and open at the tip).
