Abstract
"This paper on The Republic of the Marshall Islands was prepared by Dr: Leonard Mason. Dr. Mason was involved in collecting basic data on the Marshall Islands during the war years when he was a graduate student at Yale University. He became the first American anthropologist to work in the Marshalls when he conducted a post-war economic survey. Currently an emeritus Professor of anthropology at the University of Hawaii at Manoa, Dr. Mason still maintains a high level of involvement with the Marshall Islands." (Quoted from foreword)
