dc.description.abstract The labrid genus Pseudolabrus is represented in the islands of the southeast Pacific by three previously known species, P. fuentesi, P. semifasciatus, and P. gayi. A new species from Rapa, P. torotai, is described; it closely resembles P. semifasciatus from Easter Island, but is distinctive in having a completely banded color pattern on the body, compared to the half-banded pattern of P. semifasciatus.
