Abstract

Description

In October of 2009, two Library and Information Science students mediated a Hot Topic discussion in Second Life entitled, "I'll be the Virtual Judge of That: Does Second Life Really Level the Social Playing Field?" The two students (Karen Brown, Harper Snowpaw in SL and Sean Thibadeaux, Manny Loopen in SL) were in an LIS 694 course, Virtual Librarianship, taught by Dr. Diane Nahl (Adra Letov in SL). This discussion looks at how even in a virtual community people constantly make judgments about others. The event doesn't start until approximately 6min30sec in and the video in total is 1hr8min long.
