dcterms.abstract Urban-rural integration development is a national development strategy proposed by China to confront the current situation of unbalanced urban-rural development, and the countryside is in urgent need of modernization and transformation. As a macro-control concept, urban-rural integration directly influences village planning, and village planning, as the main design basis for village architecture, profoundly affects the programming, design and implementation of key public architecture projects in villages. In this context, this paper selects the bazaar architecture, an important public space node in the countryside with both economic and social functions, as a specific design research object, and takes the suburban rural areas of Shanghai as an example. The suburban villages in Shanghai are influenced by the radiation of the metropolis and have the typical demonstration value of urban-rural integration development.Due to the boom of "rural revitalization" policy in recent years, there have been some practical cases of rural bazaar architecture in China, but theoretically, there is still little involvement. The purpose of this paper is to explore a nationwide model of rural bazaar architecture through the study and design of bazaar architecture in the suburban rural environment of Shanghai, and to provide a reference value for the further integration of urban-rural relationship. Based on this background, in this thesis, an attempt is made to answer the question of what makes a good rural bazaar architecture. Through literature review, field research, case study, and questionnaire survey, this paper elaborates the relevant theories and clarifies the importance of rural bazaar architectural design from the perspective of urban-rural integration. In the results, firstly, based on the impact of urban-rural integration on village design, this paper proposes programming principles and design principles of rural bazaar architecture under the perspective of urban-rural integration. Finally, the corresponding programming principles and spatial design principles are applied and demonstrated in the design example of bazaar in Waizao Village, Shuyuan Town, Pudong ,Shanghai.
