Description

Title: Thaaboeg (this title is a man's name). A Yapese-language vernacular reader developed under various bilingual education projects for Micronesia. Printed in 1980 by MICAL (Micronesian Cultures and Languages) Project. This book was developed pursuant to a grant from the U.S. Office of Education, Department of Health, Education and Welfare. The publication was developed and printed with funds provided by Title VII of the Emergency School Aid Act. Credits: Recorded on tape by Torobius Gorongfich of Map’; transcribed and edited by Gilnifrad Lukubyad and Jean Kirschenmann; orthography checked by John Thayer Jensen; book layout planned by Jean Kirschenmann and Leo D. Pugram; typed by Agnes Ilyaw. Contents: The story of Thaaboeg of Maap’ Island, narrated by his great-grandon Goofian of Choqol, Maap’, who also gave MICAL permission to print this story for use in the classroom.Contains high and low resolution JPGs and high and low resolution PDFs.
