The stories were first printed in The Story of the Eel and Other Stories from Uripiv Island, Vanuatu, published in 2004 by the Vanuatu Cultural Centre, Port Vila, and are reproduced here, in slightly edited form, with the permission of the Vanuatu National Cultural Council.
