dc.description | This session was divided into two. In the first session, we asked Ikelau to recite a series of words where /k/ was in the word-initial environment to test the pronunciation before different vowels. This half of the session ends with Ikelau herself claiming that Palauan /k/ is typically pronounced further back in the mouth, not how we pronoune it in English. The second half of the session tested for use of resumptive pronouns, and whether it was possible to topicalize objects by moving them to the beginning of a clause. Ikelau denied that this is possible. | |
