Abstract

Proteins, which play significant roles in nature, are integral parts of many biological and chemical processes. These vast macromolecules may be transport proteins, such as RBP (Retinol Binding Protein), or may bind to a substrate catalyzing a specific reaction or possibly induce an isomerization. Understanding and learning more about the chemistry involved in these protein-substrate interactions may help elucidate the mechanisms which govern them.
