Brief excerpt from interview: The motivation [for the course containing place-based elements] was I needed to keep track of my students. I needed to be able to support them when they needed support, and I needed to interject if they needed help. so it was a direct communication link.

This item includes a segment of an instructor interview in a Writing Intensive course in Food Sciences, Health, and Nutrition at the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa.
