dc.description.abstract | This particular study is the next step in one strand of my research that stretches back over 20 years. During those two decades, I have been intrigued by cloze procedure because it often turns out to be a reasonably good test of overall English language proficiency, yet we really do not understand how it works. I will briefly review that strand of my own research in order to show how those studies led me to the research hypotheses that drive the present paper. | |
