Abstract
A LANtastic network to provide access to shared CD-ROM drives was installed at the University of Hawaii Sinclair Undergraduate Library in early 1990. In this chapter, background on related CD-ROM projects at the University of Hawaii Libraries is provided. Reasons for choosing LANtastic and an overview of the installation, upgrading and maintenance of the network are discussed. LANtastic network products, equipment and specific experiences related to the use of LANtastic for access to networked CD-ROM drives are desribed. Future plans for expanding the number of share CD-ROM drives and evaluation of the system are presented.
