dc.description.abstract Four small Indian mongoose removal plots were monitored on two islands in Hawai'i during a 3-yr period. Both males and females showed natal dispersal in the fall. Males also dispersed during the breeding season. The capture rate of male dispersers decreased greatly between the beginning and the end of the breeding season, possibly indicating high seasonal mortality rates. Ramifications for population management are discussed.
