A man recalls his grandmother's Kalakaua Avenue home; his homes on Lewers Road and, later, Ohua Avenue; Trent Town and Submarine Alley housing; Father Valentin and St. Augustine Church; and Waikiki childhood activities, including barefoot football and mischief. He also remembers his police work in the 1930s--walking beats, uniforms, directing traffic--and 1940s--emergencies on December 7, 1941; various department positions; and murder cases, houses of prostitution, and liquor control.
