Title: Chepin yuu Waqab ('Events on Yap'). A Yapese-language vernacular reader developed under various bilingual education projects for Micronesia. Printed in 1978 by Audio-Visual Center, Yap District Department of Education; edited by Gilnifrad Lukubyad; illustrated by Robert Fithing. This book was developed pursuant to a grant from the U.S. Office of Education, Department of Health, Education and Welfare. Contents: War, Origin of Rivers (on Yap), Piirow and Monitor Lizard, Clans of Fanif, Story of a Woman Who Rejected a Turtle’s Breast, How Needlefish Came to Be, How Baathagith Got His Name, Drunkenness, How the Low Caste on Yap Came to Be, How Ritual Purity and Low Castes and Some of Our Customs on Yap Came to Be, Story of a Woman Who Came from Fanif to Maap’.
