dc.descriptionConceptualizing the Death and/or Burial of Captain James Cook Introduction: Captain James Cook was a product of the Age of Exploration, which began in the 15th century. As part of the Northern European contingent of explorers, the English captain explored and set a course mapping out Polynesia and as far north to Alaska of the North American Continent in the 18th century. He died in Kealakekua Bay in 1779. When writing history on Cook, choosing which perspective about him can be a daunting task. As a student of history, there are many types of histories related to Cook, e.g., Pacific, Pacific Islander, English, European, and Hawaiian Pacific cultures. This pathfinder is specific in that its focus is on the events surrounding the death of Captain Cook.
