dc.description.abstract Brief excerpt from interview: You hear about the legends of Pele on the Big Island and how people correlate it with how actual geological events happened: Maybe this legend here talks about this eruption, and there's hearsay evidence that points it out... it's still debatable. I know the story and I know about that eruption. I never bothered to connect them, and somebody else did.
