Abstract

In a world and time when nearly half as many divorces occur each year as do marriages, more and more people are seeking help from marriage and family therapists. Unfortunately, it is not easy to find a competent and qualified marriage and family therapist. To protect themselves and obtain services that are appropriate for their needs, consumers need information about marriage and family therapy. They need to know what to look for in selecting a marriage and family therapist, and how to evaluate credentials and weigh relevant criteria. This booklet provides the necessary information to help consumers find family counseling services that are most appropriate for their unique needs and situations.
