John Hirota, was born and raised in Haleʻiwa with his family. He attended Kamehameha Schools for Boys. After earning his business degree from the University of Redlands, he was in the United States Army. After returning from Europe, he met his wife, settled down, and started his 30-year career with the sugar plantation.
