dc.description.abstract I was born in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam on 4 August 1977. I have absolutely no recollection of Vietnam or our escape. My earliest memory is of Tanj ungpinang, an Indonesian island we stayed on before relocating to Galang. I vividly remember playing with my sister and cousins in a lagoon, with a beautiful cataract as a backdrop. Curiosity led me to stray from the group and towards the waterfall. Before realizing it, I fell into the water.
