dc.description.abstract This thesis examines the feasibility of refusing traditional marine conservation knowledge in Palau, but more specifically within the island of Peleliu. The arguments presented here involve Palauan traditional marine conservation practices, paying attention to current use, value, and opinions regarding whether this knowledge could be effectively used to manage marine resources in Peleliu. However, this thesis argues that refusing traditional concepts are useful on other levels for cultural perpetuation.
