Abstract
The presence of copper, cobalt, and nickel in ferroman ganese nodules, of which large deposits have been located on the ocean floor of the Hawaiian Archipelago, has attracted many industries in the United States, France, Japan and Germany. An intensive research effort is underway to derive economically feasible methods for the harvesting and processing of the nodules for the cobalt, copper and nickel.
