Abstract
Tonga case study was designed to complement activities of both the Government of Tonga and PIDP. The Government of Tonga had been considering initiating an aquaculture project for several years but desired more information prior to an actual commitment. PIDP, on the other hand, desired real data as a basis for its aquaculture case study. Communication and discussions with the Tonga Fisheries Division resulted in the identification of a specific project that would benefit both parties. The project identified was a proposed 200 ha mullet farm in Vava'u. The PIDP aquaculture team of K.R. Uwate and P. Kuntuba visited Tonga to collect background materials for the study. This report is the product of that study.
