Brief excerpt from interview: When I began this class, I was scared of how much writing there would be. It had been a while since I had taken a Writing Intensive class . . . And he started the class off with 'I do not give ten out of ten.' He listed the requirements for each level--I think average was about seven--but that scared me . . . I took advantage of friends who I knew were strong writers to help me edit . . . As the weeks went on, it got easier and easier . . .

This item includes a segment of a student interview in a Writing Intensive course in Tropical Plant and Soil Sciences at the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa. The interview was conducted in 2015, and in this clip the interviewee is responding to the question 'In responding to your instructor's writing assignment, what challenges did you face?'
