Abstract
Description
Genre: Medicine/huru. Mama Sefa was recorded 8 July 2015 in the morning on the veranda of her home by Pidhu (Ebbe) using the H4N Zoom, one of his first recording sessions, a little bit loud I think. Sefa tells about her 'huru ru'u' (huru "powder"). It is a symptom and a prohibition (curse that causes those symptoms) to pick fruits from trees. The cure is with betel (sirih pinang) and lime, chewed with garlic, 'dhusu wae', 'kuju' (those are the 'hobo' grass and 'kena wunu suthane' [small leaves] plants she mentions). The chewed mixture is put on the place one is hurt/ill – she does not tell what the symptoms are, in the recording, although Pidhu asks about it. Present was also another family member (sister?).
