dc.description.abstract The distrihution of HFeCl4 between 8.15 M aqueous HCl 2nd bis(2-chloroethyl) ether in 1,2-dichloroethane was studied as a function of metal and extractant concentration. The bis(2-chloroethyl) ether solvation number for the extracted, dissociated ion pair was found to be three at low ether concentrations and five at higher ether concentrations. Results also indicate that 1.6 ether molecules are gained upon dissociation of the extracted jon pair. The disso0iation constant of the extracted bomplex metal acid was found to be 8 x lo-3 in the bis(2-chloroethyl) ether.
