dc.description.abstract The NH4+-Na+, Ag+-Na+, and Ca+-Ag+ ion-exchange isotherms in zeolite A have been determined. Ion exchange was done using aqueous solutions 0.1M in total concentration, and analyses were done by flame emission sectroscopy. The Nh4+-Na+ isotherm displays selectivity for entering NH4+ ions at low NH4+ mole fractions in solution, but this is reversed at high NH4+ mole fractions. The Ag+-Na+ isotherm clearly shows that zeolite A greatly prefers Ag+ over Na+ at all Ng+ mole fractions in solution, and its shape agrees well with that obtained by Sherry and Walton. The Ca+-Ag+ isotherm, differs by a scale factor from that determined by cystallographically.
