Abstract
This volume focuses on three issues: (1) the presumed negative impact on receiving societies of a significant volume of communication of diverse content from sources outside that society, (2) the difficulties faced by most nations in developing their own communication resources to levels comparable to those of industrially more advanced states, so that they can better engage in a two- or multi-way flow of international communication, and (3) the problem of controlling critical aspects of international communication so as to minimize potential harm and maximize potential benefits. A section devoted to more general knowledge about and analysis of international communication flows is also included.
