dc.description This item includes a segment of an instructor interview in a Writing Intensive course in Animal Science at the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa. The interview was conducted in 2014, and in this clip the interviewee is responding to the question 'What motivated you to design writing assignments with a place-based component?'
dc.description.abstract Brief excerpt from interview: What motivated me was having students engaged in the learning... I think students learn much more when they discover the information and the writing helps them to integrate all the different pieces... It's very important that students be able to write technical reports, the type of thing that [professionals] would write. [It] led to a much higher quality of writing, because they were graded as a team.
