Abstract
This study investigates the current Malagasy healthcare situation, post 2009 political coup, with assistance from the Malagasy Ministry of Health. Each tier in the national health system was assessed, from the rural clinics run by paramedics, the single doctor hospitals serving hundreds of square kilometers, to the sole national hospital serving the national capitol of over 5 million. An analysis of these findings exposes problems with international donations, hospital staffing, appropriation of government funds, and allocation of medical equipment throughout the country.
