Abstract

Description

Genre: Personal narrative. Theme: Weaving. Marta Roja, a grandmother from Kaju keri, is interviewed by Pidhu Sophune in her home 9 Oct -16. She is asked to explain the weaving prosess, beginning with the cotton, which they picked and cleaned by hand. Roja also tells about the colouring with indigo for the main colour, black. She mentions 'loi' and 'langalidhi' too, the mordants. The latter was boiled (both) and the loi squeezed into a split bamboo ('kora'.) . In the end Pidu asks for Rojas permission to let others hear her voice. She first refuses. Then she says "Can". Pidu tells her to raise her voice, buy she replies that her voice is just like that.
