Description
Nohea Marks Santimer was born in San Francisco, California in 1952. Her mother is from Papakōlea, while her father is from Nu‘uanu; both were born in 1927. Nohea grew up with two sisters and three brothers in Nuʻuanu. She married and had children, and at 25 she undertook management responsibilities for her family's estate on her father's behalf; his family had control of much land like the McCandless Ranch in Kona. In 2006 she undertook stewardship of Waialeʻe as it was passed down to her. She and her husband now visit Waialeʻe biweekly for maintenance and upkeep, commuting from their home in Honolulu.
